18 Feet of Euphoria and Delirium
Watercolor on kozo rice paper
This work was completed high atop a mesa in the desert of Abiquiu, New Mexico during a then day heat wave. Working only outside, most of the tears and stains have been repaired save for a few that allow the desert its own voice.
Video Edited by: Jasmine Hirst
Collaboration with Peter Sparling
My original informal video of the scroll, but for a birthday present, Peter Sparling a professor at University of Michigan, choreographer and previously a dancer with Martha Graham, dropped these clones of himself into the video and added Frank Pahl's music. Peter writes: In the tradition of the fantastic panoramas of satirist Jonathan Swift or painter Hieronymus Bosch, this video landscape is over-populated with a breed of clones that eventually comes unmoored and spins off to other realms.
